Space Skulls. We think we saw them in the corner of our eye, or maybe seen them in the telescope. We've all wanted a closer look and to visit the worlds in the stars. Finally they came close enough for a mere mortal like me to collect the evidence. I have prints and artwork available at Society 6 and Redbubble

Have I gone on a theme... Humm maybe. I think I'm just missing having a cat around of late, it's been a while since the Shankster cat left us. This is a mixed media artwork, using vintage pages from a book, acrylic art and in, backed on card. The frame is recycled from some vintage ones I salvaged a while ago. I felt the work didn't need a fussy frame. It's available now on Etsy!
https://www.etsy.com/shellystill or message me! A bit of a change to the usual abstract. I've had the idea of cutting up my abstract art pieces into shapes and I couldn't resist cutting out some stretching cats and adding them to a black background. Obviously I couldn't just leave it there so cut up some other parts of the original artwork to create a garden for the cats to yoga in. Let me know what you think! acrylic paint and ink on watercolour paper attached to A4 black card.
The first batch of Eyeballs Kids are now live on Etsy and waiting for new homes! I had such a great response from Bob, the first Eyeball Kid that I couldn't resist making some more. We have Jem, Babs, Cynthia, Goldie, Clem, Gavin, Jack and Kevin all waiting to keep an eye on you... www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ShellyStill ![]() ![]() ![]() I made these with a new Polymer clay called Cosclay. It's amazing stuff! Has a bend to it when cooked which makes sure all of the thin parts don't break, and also don't stab people, much to the dislike of the Eyeball Kids me thinks... I then create the shimmer effect with mica powder and varnish to keep it strong! Let me know who you like the best, or what sort of things you would like to see on the next Eyeball Kids! Message me at [email protected] or leave a comment on the blog!
Hi all! Wow I am so bad at keeping up with the blog. I even have weekly alerts on my phone that I conveniently seem to miss! But hey, I've been busy... I've been one of the very lucky people who have had two months off work on furlough in the UK and I've had the best time exploring and playing with all different sorts of material and inks. I was very fortunate to be a Kickstarter on the new Cosclay polymer clay from www.cosclay.com It's astounding stuff that bends like rubber once cooked and it has opened an avenue that I have always wanted to get into, freaky fantasy pendant necklaces! Using a mixture of Cosclay, crystals, mica powder and paint I have been inventing some very weird and wonderful pendants that are already starting to be adopted around the world! One eyed Bob was the first to be adopted and is now very happy staring at the sights and sounds of the North. I have some more Eyeball Kids coming up soon, and will blog when they are ready to enter the real world! But I also have some fun and freaky tentacle pendants currently for sale at Etsy! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ShellyStill Oh man, I had a lot of fun making these ones. I’d like to think it’s where the unicorns rub up against the My Little Ponies to have a rave… But I could be wrong! The beautiful bubbles collection are on Society 6 https://bit.ly/35Wg8tZ and Redbubble (HERE) I made these by layering up some bubbles I created with oil and food colouring with some abstract light photographs, not quite as glamorous now, but it takes time to create unicorn bubbles! Current moods... Up then down, not quite knowing what's going on and trying to keep focused on not wasting this time I have off from the day job. But then a load of people are in the same boat. I am wondering how had it will be for like minded artists and creators who have had this time to focus on their craft to get back into a work mindset. Going to be very strange sitting in an office thinking about colours and clay! So I made some arrows by layering textures and vibrant colours over arrow road signs. Think it portrays how I'm feeling right now. (prints etc available at Society 6 HERE) I have started a new hush project for someone involving ghostly vibes and nature. I've started off a bit strong to be honest! So these practice photos wont make the cut, but there's something about them I quite like. I've been obsessed with layering textures and photos on top of each other, something I used to do years ago, before photoshop was really any good. It almost feels like cheating doing it so easily on photoshop now, maybe that's why I'm using so many layers, to try and make things more complicated for myself!
Told you I was addicted. I've been up all night... Fuelled on crumble and custard... and created some more abstract art alphabets. This time I went for a way more abstract with a watercolour and ink work that I had made a year ago. It's a bit crazy, but looks fantastic in a frame! I have them available for sale at Etsy (HERE) as digital downloads so you can make your own name, or a rude word, and stick it on the wall! Or the ceiling, I'm not going to tell you what to do with them! So many choices. Some times you just have to let your frustrations out... Only joking! I was trying to make some textures from the broken glass and some siligum to push into clay at a later date. That experiment didn't quite go to plan, but at least I got some nice stock photographs out of the day too. Available at Adobe Stock (here) and Shutterstock (here) I've been toying with the idea of mixing abstract paintings with lettering, and finally... Fiiiiiinally I decided to give it a go, and I love it. New addiction! The leopard print style alphabets have come out so well. So well in fact that they are now available as Jpgs and PNGs for projects and printouts! My Etsy Shop (here) has these, and some other bits of fun! Please pop over and say hi! Hoping to get some very funky tentacle pendants and jewellery for sale soon! ![]() It was one of those days where I started messing with ink and ended up with a 1970s pattern that should be on the wall! Really enjoyed working with this one and creating different vibes with the same thing. I've always fallen into the red and black, but I'm really digging the blue. And really digging how they look on cups and cushions! Available at Society 6 (here) and RedBubble (here) I always found abstract art something I did when going through sober patches (apart from a three year stint on my early 20s sobriety has been pretty much scarce!), but recently, even though I don't drink as vast amounts as I used to, I seem to enjoy leaving little 'presents' for myself. Last night was one of those nights. I was having a pretty dead day artistically, and the urge to just drink and chill the mind was strong, so I fell for Beck's charms as always and settled into a Ronnie Barker documentary. But the paints were next to me, the ink fluttering it's eyes and a sketchbook begging so I just opened it an doodled. The more beer, the more torn out bits of paper. This morning there was this... The bit that astounds me is that I cleaned my brushes! Ever diligent with those cheap things. Now, I'm not saying I was so pissed I don't remember the night before, my six pint tolerance has now gone down to two large bottles of Becks, but it's nice to know that alcohol seems to be happy for me to still talk to my artistic side. And I have something to do today! My to-do list had shrunk dramatically. I was even starting to put 'have shower' on it just so I could have something to tick off (don't judge, it's still not ticked off, who am I getting dressed up for today huh!) I hope everyone else is keeping busy and happy in these strange times. I understand I am very much in the minority when I say I am not missing going out at all, my introvert side is swimming in absolute joy! I still keep thinking about getting back to writing my book, but it's already 35,000 words that even I don't want to read back so I guess that can stay in the google drive covered in digital dust!
Keep happy and entertained everyone! In this weird time of isolation it's been easy to take more time to look out at the garden and just get a bit closer to the ground. Summer is on the way and things are sprouting where they shouldn't be! I'm more of a 'let nature be nature' kinda girl, but when dandelions get to this stage of their lives I must admit I'm pretty quick with chopping down the ones on the lawn. Hey, the bees have hard their fun, time for you to go! But if you look closer it is amazing how many small bugs and aphids live just under the dandelion seeds! go, get your magnifying glasses, freak yourself out! These are some fun photos I've been taking for stock photography sites at Shutterstock (here) and Adobe Stock (here) Ahhh, it's been a long time coming, I have avoided putting my work up for sale for ages due to confidence, not quite getting the photos right, being unhappy with the finished pieces... But this time in isolation has given me a lot of time to work on my 'f#ck it!' attitude and quite simply if you don't try new things you never know what will come out of it! Check out my shop HERE! Hope you enjoy my work! I created this Frankenstein patchwork from three acrylic paintings cut up and sewn back together by metal wire. Absolutely loved working on this style, though it was a bit tough on the fingers!! This one is watercolour and ink on watercolour paper. Always find myself a bit heavy handed with the watercolours, but I love the vibrancy! I still absolutely love cartooning. I did start another site for the cartoons but they are still me so deserve to stand with the other works of art! This is pen on red card. Let me know what you think! If you are interested in helping a starving artist by buying one please message me HERE or check out the contact form on the contact page and shop page. Well the lockdown in the UK seems to be having effect on my general creativty cracker point. I've been having a great time! Started working on some abstract photography, something I've not really explored since college, and back then Photoshop wasn't really an option! I'm not sure the camera will forgive me for the settings I made it do, all the while spinning it around like a ballroom dancer. Going to explore mixing art work with this technique a bit more today, see what happens! Thank goodness I don't do film photography anymore, this would have turned out expensive! Prints and other yums of this photograph are available at Society 6 HERE
One of those days when you walk into your room to get a bit of paper, stick on a CD (Dog Man Star by Suede) and get taken over by the paint. I haven't picked up a paintbrush abstractly since I started my degree, but this week I decided that the first year of that was enough so I guess that part of my brain has stopped and allowed a bit more imagination and experimentation in. I think I went into it planning bright colours, but I always get distracted by the reds and blacks, always. Anyway, none of these are finished, well, I don't think so, they've not told me yet! But thought I'd document the randomness again. Always end up working on more than one thing, not usually this small though.
